A Report from Dekalb Market’s Opening Day

Our publisher Stephen Munshin–also a photographer; see his handiwork above–stopped by Dekalb Market at the corner of Flatbush Avenue Extension and Willoughby Street for its 2012 opening this Saturday. He filed the following report: “Food and shopping scene was bustling and a few of our supporters were there, including Red Hook Lobster Pound and Arirang Kimchi, both of which will be at Brooklyn Uncorked. And just about everyone had Sixpoint Sweet Action cans (the brewery behind those will be at Good Beer) in front of them.”

For more photos from the market and the story behind the space, created from reclaimed shipping containers and a former parking lot, check out Cheryl Chan’s photo essay from its inaugural season last year.
