Celebrate Earth Day with Us this Weekend

Posted by & filed under Events, Featured, Weekend Market.

Join us this weekend as we celebrate Earth Day here at Dekalb Market! A brief history lesson on the origins of Earth Day, it sprouted out of the hippie movement in 1970 before eco-friendly, biodegradable, organic, environmental, and sustainable were marketable buzz terms. 40 odd years laters it’s a growing movement to help save the earth, infiltrating the everyday lives of spendthrift consumers and fighting for a clean and healthy environment. With that said we’re putting our own spin on Earth Day and we’ve got some exciting activities in store for you this weekend.

Vegan Shop-Up, the infamous pop up market catering to all things vegan food and products are joining us this weekend with a handful of stellar vendors, including Brooklyn Hummus, Chai Mookie, Sherrys Short Cakes, The Stand NY, and Chickpea & Olive. Farm to Baby will be joining us as well sharing her farm fresh baby food delivery service to all the stroller moms out there.

Enjoy FREE bang trimmings and haircuts courtesy Medusa Salon, and FREE nail art and manicures because guess what? Celebrating Earth Day also means taking care of your own personal earth and ensure health and wellness for you and your surroundings.

We’ll be accompanied this weekend by the Balkan, Gypsy swing band The Underscore Orkestra who has enough hippie ingrained in their sound to hark you back to the golden days.

And never forget we’ve got goodies from 60 retail and food container shops like wings from Dekalb Wings, pulled pork sammies from Mayhem & Stout, nifty bathing suits from Kooj, and bike accessories by Eleanor’s!
