Curating a marketplace is definitely about quality of products but when it comes to food it’s got to be about FLAVOR - lipsmacking, mouth drooling, oooh-it-tastes-too-good-to-be-true yummy-ness.  We’ve been a fan of the Robicellis cupcakes ever since we came across them last Spring and we’re beyond and over the moon that they’re joining us at Dekalb Market this summer. BUT what you might not realize is that not only are Allison & Matt the cutest married love birds with adorable kids, they are hilarious both in person and as writers on their blog. I mean, have you seeeen the titles and recipes of their cupcakes? Chicken & Waffles? A smorgasboard of ones named after the Golden Girls? C’mon, that’s some Comedy Central cheekiness right there. We’re happy we got to link them up with Joe’s Coffee in the development of this marketplace - now they’re stocked in all of Joe’s locations across the city!  Anyways they wrote a post today about coming on board and we’re still chuckling.

Getting love from Brooklyn is unparalleled but we won’t lie, when it shoots out from across the pond Care Bear style, we’re all smiles!  Considering England is the home of some of our most famous projects such as Camden Lock and Spitalfields Market, we definitely want Londoners to know where they should be heading when they use up those Virgin miles and head over.

First came word that the Brooklyn Flea would be moving to Williamsburg on Sundays starting in April. Then we learned that a new DeKalb Market, filled with vendors in retooled shipping containers, would come to Flatbush and Willoughby by early summer (applications are still being accepted for a free spot for six months!). And now, so long as it reaches its meager Kickstartergoal, a night market will take over 125,000 square feet along the Greenpoint waterfront Friday and Saturday nights from May to September.  Read More

We have a stellar line up of judges who will be overseeing the shortlisted finalists for our competition next month in April.  Business Editor, Alex Goldmark from Good.is is one of them and just created a wonderfully written piece on the website!  Not only does it profile the history of Urban Space, the future of Dekalb Market but gives context to the reason why this competition is important to the creative community.

Take a look - also be sure to follow him on Twitter!

Post image for Maharlika featured on Grubstreet!

Not only did our cupcake vendor Robicellis get a shout out on Grubstreet yesterday but today featured a post on the very same site by our friend Jenny Miller who wrote about our Filipino food vendor Maharlika!  We’re super excited to  have them join the marketplace - their pop up brunch has been drawing crowds.  On the menu: Ilog breakfasts dishes, mango french toast (don’t sleep on this one, run, don’t walk) and cocktails mixed up by Enzo Lim from Minetta Tavern with recipes like ‘Pacquio’s Punch’ and ‘Bloody Clara’ (fish sauces is added to a classic Bloody Mary, sounds gross but trust us!).  They’ll be putting together a one off dinner at Alias on Clinton Street at the end of the month and are due to continue their pop up status by adding dinners a few times a week at Leon, the same location they run their brunches.
