DeKalb Market Opens

Dekalb Market, at 138 Willoughby Street in Downtown Brooklyn, launches its 2012 season with a spring weekender from 10 AM to 6 PM on Saturday April 7 and Sunday April 8.

The Easter-themed event will feature a market-wide Easter egg hunt, a flower and garden flea market,  urban farming demos, local live music, DJ sets, and Mimosas every morning.

This year, the multi-purpose cultural destination (eat, shop, drink, play) will inaugurate its new outdoor event space — an entire block — featuring curated programs, live music, a biergarten, and a community farm.

Expect a season of free music, art, food, film and eclectic whatever, smack in gritty downtown.

Featured this season:

  • dance parties
  • open-air markets
  • foodie fun
  • bike-in movies
  • lobster cookouts
  • roller derbies and
  • live music
…all against the backdrop of the market’s biergarten, featuring local craft beer, wine and sangria — an ideal summer hangout or shopping break destination.Open all day, seven days a week, the market offers Robicelli’s Cupcakes, Joe’s Coffee, Maharlika’s Filipino street food, and 45 retail shops, including Etsy Collective, YakBlak, Hank and Jo Jo, Harriet’s Alter Ego, and Pip and Estella. It’s architecturally distinctive, too:  built from recycled shipping containers converted into more than 60 food and retail shops, framing the outdoor event space.
